WHO CAN BE TESTED?
Adults and children aged 6 and over can be tested.
Unfortunately, if an adult has a pacemaker fitted, they cannot be tested.
HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?
Testing is done with a Dietx machine and is not painful, invasive or uncomfortable.
It is known as an electro-dermal- screening machine. It stems from a discovery made in the 1950's by German doctor Reinold Voll.
I will ask you to hold a metal cylinder in your dominant hand whilst food and drink ampoules are placed within the machine’s electromagnetic circuit. Then I’ll use a point on your other hand to complete the circuit. If the item does not agree with you it creates an abnormal reading – known as resistance.
I have many different foods and drinks to test and you are welcome to bring a few items that you use in the household, for example a face cream, a shampoo or a washing product to test.
HOW LONG WILL THE TEST TAKE?
For an adult a first appointment will take around 120 minutes to complete. For a child, it may be less. This time includes:
- Discussion of your overall health and reasons for wanting the test
- Testing what you eat and drink
- Reviewing the results
- Advice on eliminating problem foods and potential substitutes
How accurate is the test?
The test is 75-80% accurate
The elimination diet is, however, the only 100% accurate way of determining which foods you are intolerant to. With the help of the Dietx machine I can make it easier for you to know which foods to eliminate.
